  ABOUT OUR SPEAKER: 

  Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan has represented California’s 16th Assembly District since 2018, covering communities across the East Bay, including Orinda, Walnut Creek, Livermore, and Pleasanton.
  
  Rebecca built her career as an environmental attorney, leading corporate compliance investigations and pro bono programs focused on civil rights, immigration, and domestic violence. She also taught appellate law at Santa Clara and Golden Gate Universities.

  
  

  In the Assembly, she founded the Select Committee on Reproductive Health and has championed legislation on environmental protection, reproductive rights, mental health, and civil liberties. She now chairs the Committee on Privacy and Consumer Protection, guiding California’s approach to AI regulation.
  
  A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Georgetown University Law Center, Rebecca lives in Orinda with her husband, Darren, and their three children.

  PROGRAM SUMMARY

  Rebecca will provide an update on the key issues and legislation currently being discussed in Sacramento and explore how potential changes could affect individuals, businesses, and the broader Bay Area community. The discussion will highlight emerging developments, what they could mean for taxpayers and business owners, and the practical considerations to keep in mind as the legislative landscape continues to evolve.

     How pending and proposed legislation could affect personal income taxes, business taxes, deductions, credits, and other tax considerations for individuals and businesses.

  2. Impact on Bay Area Businesses and Residents
     How proposed changes at the state level may have particular implications for Bay Area employers, business owners, investors, and residents.

  3. What to Watch in Sacramento
     Key legislative and policy developments to monitor, including proposals that could have significant financial or operational consequences.

  4. Potential Planning Considerations
     What individuals and businesses may want to consider as legislation develops, including potential implications for tax planning, business decisions, and financial strategies.

  5. Looking Ahead
     Important dates, legislative milestones, and next steps that may help participants understand when proposed changes could take effect and what to watch for as the year progresses.
