Presentation Summary:
This presentation addresses how clients can protect themselves in times of uncertainty in the financial world, with the banking failures early in 2023 as a prime example. Part of the exercise is to identify accurately where risks lie, which are not always in the areas clients might expect, with discussion of steps clients can take to preserve their financial security.

About Our Speakers:
Matt Brady, a frequent speaker and writer on wealth management topics, is an attorney who has been active in financial services for over 20 years. He has led substantial family office groups and wealth planning teams, and currently is regional manager for the High Net Worth group at Citi Private Bank. Before joining Citi Matt led the San Francisco and surrounding market for the Wells Fargo Private Bank. Matt is a graduate, with honors, from Princeton University and has a J.D. degree from Stanford Law School, where he was a note editor of the Stanford Law Review.
Karen Sugihara leads BNY Mellon’s fiduciary business on the West Coast. She is a frequent speaker on fiduciary topics at conferences such as California Lawyers Association, Hawaii Tax Institute and the Kasner Symposium. Prior to joining BNY Mellon Karen was the Regional Fiduciary Manager for Wells Fargo Private Bank, overseeing their trust business in the Bay Area. Karen practiced trusts & estates law in Los Angeles and attained an AV-Preeminent rating. She holds a B.S. degree from UC Riverside and a J.D. degree from Pepperdine University School of Law.
