How does a planner handle non-traditional assets such as art, cars, jewelry, and other collectibles? During this session, Rosemary and Sonja will explore the challenges and real-world solutions. They will give an art market update and also discuss current cases as related to non-traditional assets.
About Our Speakers:
Rosemary Ringwald is a Managing Director, Wealth Strategies Advisor, and the Head of Art Planning at Bank of America Private Bank. Headquartered in Los Angeles, Rosemary provides analysis and strategic advice to artists, dealers, collectors and art investors, helping them anticipate the factors that lie at the intersection of art and finance.
Prior to joining Bank of America Private Bank in 2005, Rosemary spent more than 10 years in public and industry accounting, where she focused on financial, tax and investment planning. In her previous positions with Ernst & Young LLP and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, she provided financial, compensation and retirement counseling, along with estate planning and gift-tax consulting, to senior executives and high-net-worth individuals. Rosemary graduated cum laude with a B.A. in history from the University of California San Diego, and earned her J.D. at Southwestern University School of Law.
A member of the California State Bar, Rosemary is a past president of the Los Angeles Estate Counselors Forum and has served as an Executive Vice President for The Leadership Council at The Music Center. She was previously an adjunct faculty member for the Art Business program at Claremont Graduate University and currently teaches for Sotheby’s Institute of Art Education. Within Sotheby’s, she serves as a lecturer for its Contemporary Art, Markets, and Management program, a Master’s degree taught in conjunction with CENTRO University in Mexico City.
Sonja Moro is a Vice President and Art Services Specialist with Bank of America Private Bank in Los Angeles, California. Utilizing her diverse knowledge and experience in the art industry, her background lies at the intersection of art and finance. She executes the art services strategy across the country, with a specific focus on California, the Pacific Northwest, Texas, and Colorado. Her tailored advice extends to every stage of collecting. Prior to joining Bank of America Private Bank, Sonja was a Senior Specialist of Post-War and Contemporary Art at Bonhams Los Angeles. She worked with collectors, dealers and museums at auction and privately on consignments, acquisitions and appraisals. Previously, she was an art appraiser with Jacqueline Silverman and Associates, Inc. for over a decade. Sonja earned Bachelor of Arts in Art History from the University of Southern California.
